PS4: Not a Promising Future

Firstly, I am a big PlayStation fan and when I first started to hear the rumors about PS4 I got really excited.

After  watching the Sony conference, my first impression on the PS4 description they gave I was wondering what they could even change from the PS3 to the PS4, since the PlayStation 3 had almost everything. Then they started to show some of the starting screens and all of that good stuff of the PlayStation 4. I started to realize that it looked exactly like the Xbox 360 start screen. What I was thinking at that moment was why would they do that? Why can’t they use their heads to make something new that wasn’t already used!

The main thing Sony wanted to change from 3 to 4 was they wanted it to be a hub for sharing gameplay footage and screenshots, but that’s not what today’s hardcore gamers mainly want they want innovation and creation they want games that reinvent how games are played, not ways they can share the same kind of gameplay that has been used from PlayStation 1 to PlayStation 2 to PlayStation 3 and now in PlayStation 4. The thinking Sony doesn’t realize is that they don’t need to invent social media they already have make sites for that and they already have the social media integrated in many consoles and their own to, so their trying to reinvent social media when they are only making it accessible with the new share button introduced on their prototype PS4 controller they showed.

They say they are making it like a blank canvas for developers, but why does it matter if their developers don’t bother to make use of it. There were some good examples of how they could use the new graphic’s chips to help make gameplay truly interesting, but also there are games that could also be done on the PS3 with the same results. A fact to prove that statement is that most of the title announced at to days conference is that most of the games will also be available on the PlayStation 3 as well as the PS 4. So all together even though Sony wants to try to remodel the engine of the PS4 they’re not making it so that developers and gamers will be interested in it.

To Wrap up I will briefly list some key features that I thought were worthy enough to be written down

  • The controller with have touchpad, more comfortable dual sticks and rear triggers, and also a new share button will be added.
  • There will be a new Cloud service called Gaikai
  • New hardware with 8 GB RAM
  • Also many new features like you can play a game with it download, you can share and upload videos, and also they will integrate Facebook and Upstream.
  • Also you will be able to play your PS4 games on Vita, phones and tablets, and computers.

As a conclusion the PlayStation doesn’t have a bright future.
