Yesterday in my blog, I mentioned the inexpensive laptop designed by some Swiss group which won an innovations award in Copenhagen, Denmark. The group behind the laptop will give the prize money to the Massachusetts-based One Laptop Per Child program.

It came as a surprise to me when one of my programmer friends told me that chip makers are no longer outdoing each other to develop the fastest microprocessors with single ultra-fast calculating core. They have instead changed focus on multiple cores. And he said this development worries him to some degree.
