Getting married and saving money
Sep 27th, 2007 by Stephen Palmer
No pun intended there, what I mean is that getting married today and having a wedding ceremony can get to be very costly. Think about all those preparation – the wedding gown, the dress of the bridal entourage, the video coverage, the food, the decorations. Sure, the cost associated with these stuff can really give you a headache. But then this is a special moment your life and this will happen only once (well, ideally) so you don’t mind at if costs a lot as long as the effect will be a long lasting beautiful memory.
But like any other endeavors, being classy and elegant does not always mean overhauling your pocket up to the last cent. With a little innovation, creativity and help from analog people we call friends and family members and digital technology, a wedding can be as special as it should be.
The video and photo coverage is one particular aspect that may be expensive but with careful planning, can make one significantly cut on cost. If you hire the services of a photography studio both for video and still image coverage, then the cost would definitely be skyrocketing because you do not just pay for the person covering, you also pay for the company itself. If you want to save on this, maybe you can hire a friend or relative who has digital equipment. Well just make sure that somebody artistic will manipulate the equipment.
For your cake, you do not have to go to expensive shops for them. Yes, they may have the best designs but their prices are so bloated. With the help of the internet, you can research for the best wedding cake designs and the recipe. Isn’t this great: you have greater control on what you want to do with your cake? You can play around and do your customizations, inject your own creative juices. And then after a few years, you look back and boast about the cake you made on your wedding. The same goes with other stuff – the internet has thousands of designs and ideas that you can choose from. Researching for designs has never been this easy. You just type Google and click on “Images” and then you get a rich gallery right before you eyes.
Of course you want a honeymoon for your wedding. Still the internet will come to your rescue. You can search for the best honeymoon place with a few clicks. You need to plan ahead so you can get the best bargain for hotels and resorts. Some packages can really be inexpensive when booked ahead of time. The same goes for airfare. When you are searching for flight schedules and corresponding rates, most airline websites usually include an option labeled “lowest fare”.
So there you have it. There is always a way to get things a lot lesser without sacrificing quality. I think the bottom line here is resourcefulness and creativity. And when the help of technology, nothing is impossible.
Oh, in the next few weeks, I am thinking of spending holiday in Bali. I will specifically on how to get the lowest airfare.
