Selecting a Good Digital Camera

If you’re looking to buy a digital camera, you don’t just go out and purchase something really expensive and hope it will work according to your needs. Although a very expensive digital camera will certainly give you what you want, you don’t need to spend so much just to get the results you are looking for. A few tricks in selecting a good digital camera should ensure you spend very little while getting a good result at the same time.
You may already be aware that the higher the pixels the better the resolution. That’s true but what is also true is the higher the resolution the more expensive the camera gets. If you’re not a professional photographer, you don’t need to go as high as 8 mega pixels or even more. Although that would be very clear, you might be spending too much. A five mega pixel camera is more than enough to get the captured moments going. When you zoom in to a five mega pixel camera, the pixilation is almost the same with the cameras with eight mega pixel.
The LCD of digital cameras on the other hand goes the other way when it comes to pricing. It’s not true in some cameras (especially the cheaper ones) but in known brands, the smaller the LCD, the pricier it gets. But you don’t have to go for the mini-pocket sized cameras; a good 2-inch screen is enough for you. The bigger ones are usually the cheaper cameras. But you don’t even have to think about it. As long as you have a very good resolution, the outcome will always be the same.
All digital cameras have a zoom so you could take a good look even though you’re quiet far from your target. Personally, I rarely use zoom because if you are just in a good family vacation, you virtually have a great view. But if you want to have zoomed in your camera, 4x or 8x is more than enough for you and your family.
Being expandable is also important in your digital camera. Rarely digital cameras usually have 512MB or 1G in memory but you need to have more if you want to take pictures while in vacation. Most of the digital cameras have 32MB of internal memory. Remember that if you have a 5 mega pixel camera, each shot could usually take 2MB or more. Be sure to purchase a camera that could be expanded. Whether it’s SD or Flash Card, expanding your storage capacity is very important.
Accessories should also be considered. Most of the time, you’ll just have a bag together with the digital camera. But if want to have more; look for a digital camera that has a tripod that goes with the camera or even a memory card for storage expansion.
So you don’t have to purchase a highly expensive digital camera to get a good resolution. Just look at the specifications more carefully so that you don’t have to purchase a highly camera just to keep the memories alive for ages.
