It came as a surprise to me when one of my programmer friends told me that chip makers are no longer outdoing each other to develop the fastest microprocessors with single ultra-fast calculating core. They have instead changed focus on multiple cores. And he said this development worries him to some degree.

I am a web developer. And to be specific, I have been using php and mysql for quite some time after I moved from Microsoft’s Active Server Pages (ASP) simply because php and mysql are free and of course very stable.
