You don’t have to increase spending in reducing weight
Oct 20th, 2007 by Stephen Palmer
While reading my online newspaper this morning, I came across an article that tackled obesity in America.
Yes, obesity is so real and everywhere you go you see lots of fat people. No offense to them, but being obese is not just bad for one’s health but it is generally bad for one’s confidence.
I am proud to say that I have the ideal weight relative to my age, height and body frame. This is because I am practical in my lifestyle and in my eating habits. I read an article in the past saying that Americans are some of the most wasteful people on this planet. Think about those oversized burgers you can buy on the street. Some of these foods can be hardly consumed to the last bite and the rest just goes to the waste bin. And then when people get too fat from buying and eating too much food, the go their way to buy slimming pills and tablets. Such a wasteful spending habit.
I can save money while keeping myself healthy by consuming more fruits and vegetables than meat products. In general, vegetables and fruits cost less and they are easy to prepare. They can even be eaten raw. And the have more fiber and less fats that can help me maintain my weight while giving lots of vitamins and minerals.
Whenever I can, I always prepare my food instead of buying. Fast foods are more expensive because the companies behind them need to earn their profits. Also, by cooking the food myself, I can be sure what I am eating. For instance, I try to avoid monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is harmful to the body but many fast foods use them because they enhance food flavors significantly.
I drink a lot of water. Having much water in the body does not just give me the impression of being full and let me avoid from eating further but it also nourishes me and keeps me from being dehydrated especially during these hot days due to global warming.
I also have a regular exercise regiment. Every morning I jog or brisk walk. I tend to avoid spending on gym membership so I can further save money. With walking, I get to enjoy nature around me so walking for me is not just an exercise but a form of relation and de-stressing as well. For those who want to into aerobic exercise, you can save money by downloading free videos and instructional from the internet. You don’t need to spend money buy buying those exorbitantly priced DVDs.
See? It does not need to be expensive to be in good shape. Slimming and weight control pills are very expensive and most of them have no clinical trials that validate their claims. The natural method is generally the best. After all, our bodies are organic works or nature so they should be maintained the natural, inexpensive way.
May you have a happy and healthy day ahead!
